Perham, MN – A man was arrested this weekend for breaking into a woman’s Perham apartment and stabbing her.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says deputies and Perham Police responded to a report of an assault in progress at an apartment in Perham at around 10:16 a.m. Saturday. Witnesses said 22-year-old Cyrus Lee Olson had forcibly entered the apartment and was seen stabbing and physically assaulting the woman inside until a neighbor intervened and called 911.
The victim was able to flee to a friend’s apartment nearby, where she was then treated by Perham EMS for multiple stab wounds and other injuries. She was initially transported to Perham Hospital for treatment, but was later flown to another hospital for additional medical care. Deputies say the the victim was in serious condition and that if not for the neighbor, would likely be dead.
Deputies quickly located Olson and arrested him. He was taken to the Otter Tail County Detention Facility and is being held on pending charges of attempted murder, burglary, aggravated robbery, and assault.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
