Fergus Falls, MN – PioneerCare is hosting an open house on Thursday, February 19th showcasing sketches of its residents produced by a local artist.

CEO of PioneerCare Nathen Johnson says local artist Scott Gunvaldson reached out with the idea to sketch portraits of the assisted living facility’s residents. “He’s been busy creating these beautiful portraits that look just like the subjects,” Johnson says. “When we can bring outside professionals in, especially artists as renowned as Scott Gunvaldson, to do a fun project like this with us, it doesn’t get any better than that.”

Johnson says the residents loved participating and watching the project, “I think they’ve been interested to see what they look like on paper on pencil sketch.”

PioneerCare is inviting members of the community to the open house on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., with a Q&A with Gunvaldson starting at 2:30 p.m. The Reflections of a Generation exhibit will be open in the PioneerCare Garden Courtyard through March 5th. Residents will receive theirs sketch after the exhibit closes.

The exhibit was supported by a grant from the Lake Region Arts Council.
