Vergas, MN – One dog is saved after falling through the ice on a lake in rural Vergas last Friday morning.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says it received a report at around 10:58 a.m. that a dog had fallen through the ice on the south side of Hook Lake and a woman was trying to rescue them.
The Vergas Fire Department responded to the scene and learned that two dogs had fallen into the water. Deputies say the firefighters were able to rescue one of the dogs, but the other died. Deputies also say the woman trying to rescue the dogs was not harmed.
No other details are being released.
