Erhard, MN – An Erhard man was arrested early Friday for fleeing from law enforcement in a UTV.
At around 2:30 a.m. Friday, Otter Tail County deputies received a report of a UTV being stolen from a garage in Otter Tail County by a family member, later identified as 44-year-old Justin Allen Sheridan. While responding, a deputy located the UTV heading down a county highway.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop, but the UTV did not stop and turned onto the opposite lane of a U.S. Highway. When the deputy activated the squad siren, the driver drove into the ditch and continued driving. The pursuit speeds were 45 to 50 miles per hour.
At approximately around 3:30 a.m., the UTV came to a stop and Sheridan put both his hands out of the window. Inside the UTV, the deputy found a bent fork jammed in the ignition, which they believe was used to start the vehicle.
Sheridan was arrested and made his first court appearance later Friday morning. He has been charged with fleeing from law enforcement and tampering with a motor vehicle.
