Dalton, MN – A Colorado man was taken from a car crash by helicopter in rural Dalton on Wednesday.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says that at around 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, 29-year-old Hernando Murillo of Denver was heading south on County Highway 39 east of Dalton when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with County Highway 12, t-boning an oncoming, eastbound pickup that was towing a trailer.
Deputies say Murillo sustained severe chest injuries and was transported for treatment by Life Link Air Med. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The pickup driver, a 59-year-old Fergus Falls man, did not report any injuries.
Deputies say both vehicles and the trailer were severely damaged. Charges against Murillo have not been filed and the accident remains under investigation. Officials say alcohol or impairment were not a factor.
