Elbow Lake, MN – The Grant County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a phishing scam in the area.
The scam involves perpetrators attempting to steal individuals information and money by masquerading as employees of Star Bank, which has local locations in Elbow Lake, Hancock, Graceville, and Barrett.
Sheriff Jennifer Vipond says that if you receive a phone call, do not answer any questions, hang up and call local law enforcement. If you’re concerned the call might be legitimate, call your local Star Bank directly using a trusted phone number.
