Detroit Lakes, MN – Tubing down the Otter Tail River is a classic summer pastime for many people in lakes country, with companies like K & K Tubing in Detroit Lakes providing a convenient option to enjoy the river. Unfortunately, a shortage of rainfall has caused difficulties for those wanting to participate in the relaxing activity.
In a social media post last week, K & K Tubing announced that as of now, last Sunday would be their last day of the season due to the river’s low water levels. In a follow-up post, the company said, “We want to thank everyone for an amazing season! We are still hopeful for more rain but until then, you are so simply amazing.”
The latest Drought Monitor map lists most of Becker County as being in moderate drought, with a portion of eastern Becker County in severe drought.
There is a chance K & K Tubing could reopen in August if the water level increases.
