Erhard, MN – A West Fargo man faces DWI charges following a crash in Otter Tail County Thursday evening.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says deputies received a report of a motor vehicle accident that had occurred on County Highway 22 and Heilberger Drive in rural Erhard at around 9:12 p.m. Thursday.
Deputies were unable to locate the driver of the vehicle, which had sustained severe damage. An aerial drone was used to search the area and located the driver, 36-year-old Alexander Grenell of West Fargo, a short time later. Deputies say he was found hiding in a nearby corn field and was taken into custody without incident.
Grenell made his first court appearance Friday morning and has been charged with two counts of 2nd degree DWI.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol, Pelican Rapids Fire Department, and Pelican Rapids Ambulance.
