Firefighters battling the Greenwood wildfire in Lake County are hoping forecasters are right about rainfall starting today (Thursday) and lasting through the weekend.
They need the help from Mother Nature to gain some traction against the wildfire that has burned well over 30 square miles. With moderate temperatures and winds from the north on Wednesday, those crews concentrated on setting defense lines on the fire’s north and west sides.
A bulldozer is being used to set a break line on the south side. Hundreds of residents have been evacuated and many properties have been burned to the ground.
