(Minneapolis, MN) — Delayed a day by the threat of snow and rain, the Minnesota Twins will open their season this afternoon, but the weather will likely still be a storyline.
Odds are good the Twins will play a Target Field opener with temperatures in the 40’s or colder for the fifth time since the stadium opened in 2010.
The record low for that span — 35 degrees on Opening Day 2013. The next lowest, 40 degrees in 2018, is a mark that could be eclipsed when first pitch arrives at 3:10 P-M.
The all-time coldest home opener in Twins history pre-dates Target Field — the 1962 Twins opened their season at Metropolitan Stadium with the thermometer sitting at 33 degrees.
