(St. Paul, MN) — Attorney General Keith Ellison is asking the Minnesota Senate to budget one-point-eight-million dollars so his office can hire seven more prosecutors and two legal assistants for its criminal division.
Ellison says he’s also making the request to help county attorneys across Minnesota who need assistance prosecuting serious cases.
Republicans say the A-G’s Office has already received a multi-million-dollar increase in operating funds next year.
Big Lake Senator Mary Kiffmeyer says Ellison had plenty of time and resources to shut down businesses last year and “has enough time and resources to prosecute crime now.”
