Around 1000 Goats Lost in Barn Fire Near Henning

On Friday, Otter Tail County Dispatch Center received at 911 call from 26486 520^th Ave.

The complainant reported a barn fire with livestock inside.

Otter Tail County Dispatch Center paged Henning, Deer Creek, Otter Tail, Vining and Wadena Fire Departments to assist.

Upon arrival of Henning Fire Department, the large goat barn was fully engulfed.

The owner estimated that approximately 1000 goats and a litter of puppies were inside the barn at the time of the fire and did not survive.

A barn, loafing shed, and milking parlor were completely destroyed in the fire.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire with the assistance of the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
