Excited race fans and drivers are headed to Fergus Falls this week for the Speedway Motors WISSOTA 100 at the I-94 Sure Step Speedway.
Throughout the week, spectators will see many tight point battles for the national points championship in classes that include super stocks, late models, street stock, mod fours, modifieds, and Midwest modifieds.
There will be some action tonight (Tuesday) but, most of the racing starts Wednesday and run through Saturday night.
WISSOTA Auto Racing Executive Director Rod Lindquist, said race teams started showing up on Sunday; “Sunday we had some start to show up, and it’s been kind-of non-stop. We are all ready for the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people coming in. It’s been kind of chaotic these last couple days, which tells me there’s a lot of pent-up demand coming in.”
As for how far some of teams travel Lindquist said; “The WISSOTA footprint covers out into Idaho. It covers in Canada, Minnesota, North, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, so we cover that big of a footprint. We have forty-seven tracks in our organization, and we are a member organization, so all those tracks have a say in the operations of WISSOTA. This is the Super Bowl; this is the big deal at the end of the year.”
Grandstand Gates open to the public at 3, with the National Anthem and green flag at 5.
Tickets are available at the gate.
KJ Country 965 will once again provide live broadcast coverage of the event it’s available at 95.5 FM, on the Fergus Now App and at kjcountry965.com.
