Otter Tail County Highway Department Innovators Receive Recognition

Otter Tail County, MN– The Otter Tail Board of Commissioners recognized County Highway Maintenance Workers Dennis Bosek, Jon Bratvold, and Brody Bakken for their innovative work. The innovations have received state and national recognition in advancing the service, safety, and productivity of the Highway Maintenance Department. County Highway Engineer Chuck Grotte took the opportunity to thank the team for their innovation and dedication to Otter Tail County.

Board of Commissioners Chair Betty Murphy extended her appreciation to the highway maintenance team. “Thank you for your innovations. This is a proud moment for Otter Tail County. We sincerely appreciate and are grateful for all you are doing for the County.”

The Otter Plow Cushion and the Sticky Stomp received recognition through the Minnesota Local Technical Assistance Program, Local Operational Research Assistance Program, and the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration Build a Better Mousetrap Program.

“Thank you for your willingness to go above and beyond to make work more efficient for your team,” said Commissioner Kurt Mortenson. “You bring an impressive set of varied skills to your work at the County.”

The leadership of Cristi Field, Highway Maintenance Supervisor, was also recognized by the board for building a work environment where employees are encouraged to innovate, problem-solve and pitch in to improve efficiency and safety.  The latest innovations, the Culvert Cleaner and the Otter Claw will be submitted for the 2023 Build a Better Mousetrap competition.
