Students at Fergus Falls High School will be spending part of their winter break assisting residents with snow removal.
According to Fergus Falls High School Activities Director Derek Abrahams, about a month ago, at an Otter Leadership Academy meeting, students were asked to think about what they can do to make a difference and use their leadership skills.
Junior Aisling Cox and other members of the Otter Leadership Academy came up with the idea to offer people in the community free snow removal during the school’s holiday break. That idea is now a reality. Students will be clearing sidewalks and driveways throughout Fergus Falls from December 22nd-31st.
Abrahams said, “We have been getting quite a few calls so that’s good to see and the kids are excited to do it and get out there and show that they care about our community.” He mentioned that they have received requests for parents, neighbors, people who are physically unable to remove snow and are hoping to get more. Abrahams added that he loves the fact that the students are organizing everything.
Anyone who is interested in or knows of someone who is interested in getting snow removal from the Otter Leadership Academy can contact Derek Abrahams at 218-998-0544 ext. 9801 or at dabrahams@fergusotters.org.
