(Sisseton, SD) — The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a 78-year-old Grant County man was changing a tire on the side of Interstate 29 last week when he was hit and killed.
Gerald Bartell of Herman had died by the time trooper’s arrived at the accident site near Sisseton, South Dakota.
Witnesses tell investigators Bartell had pulled onto the shoulder and was kneeling near the pickup’s driver’s side when he was hit.
A 55-year-old semi driver hit both Bartell and the pickup.
There’s a possibility that charges might be filed against the driver of the semi.
