(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota’s graduation rate nears pre-pandemic levels. State Education Commissioner Willie Jett says in 2022 83.6% percent of students graduated in four years.
He says this year’s graduation rate mirrors the 83.7% pre-pandemic graduation rates for the class of 2019.
The historic high graduation rate was 83.8% in 2020 just after the pandemic began.
The latest increase was fueled largely by the gains made by Black and American Indian students and pupils who identify as two or more races.
Each of those groups registered year-over-year gains in their four-year graduation rate of about 3 percentage points.
