61st Annual Syttende Mai Dinner Hosted by Bethlehem Lutheran Church

Bethlehem Lutheran Church, located at 102 West Junius Ave, is set to hold its annual Syttende Mai dinner on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

This marks the 61st year the church has hosted this traditional Norwegian feast, which celebrates Norway’s independence from Sweden.

Both dine-in and take-out options will be available for the attendees.

For those preferring to enjoy their meal at home, a drive-up take-out service will be offered on the east side of the building on Mill Street.

The Syttende Mai dinner, named after Norway’s Constitution Day, known as Syttende Mai (May 17th), has long been a cherished tradition at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

The annual event has been a cornerstone of community involvement and cultural appreciation, drawing locals and visitors alike for over six decades.

This year’s extravagant menu promises a host of delectable dishes, featuring a variety of Norwegian and Scandinavian classics.

Attendees can look forward to savoring meatballs with gravy, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, and cole slaw.

A selection of traditional Norwegian delicacies like sweet soup, Carl’s Lefse, rommegrot, flatbread, and Norwegian cookies will also be available, offering a unique gastronomical journey through Norway’s rich culinary heritage.

Adult tickets for the dinner are priced at $15.00, while children aged 12 and under can enjoy the feast for free.
