(St. Paul, MN) – Hailing from Fargo, but interwoven into many Minnesota farming businesses, AG Country Farm Credit Service’s Howard Olson applauded Congressmen Finstad and Craig’s premium discount for young and beginning farmers in their crop insurance bill at Farmfest, but also demanded Congress, “Modernize the program (FSA programs) for young and beginning farmers by changing the need of experience needed from three years to one.”

Eighth District Congressman Pete Stauber echoed this, noting especially young farmers need to be thought of when constructing the new farm bill, “There are young members in this community that are going to be leading farmers, the next generation.”

Stauber attributes U.S. House AG Committee Chairmen G.T. Thompson and First District Congressman Brad Finstad’s support for modernizing the new farm bill too, as well as prioritizing farmer’s mental health and well-being.
