(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota House Transportation Committee has taken steps to give school districts and school bus companies the authority to install security cameras on the outside of the buses.
That includes stop arms. Many school districts are using cameras to catch drivers who fail to stop, but other districts have worried about legal privacy issues. The video would be given to local law enforcement agencies for review and the possibility of a citation.
The security camera company told lawmakers all unused video would be purged automatically.
The bill moves on to the full House.
