The Communities Coalition of Otter Tail County is hosting a free Car Seat Checkup event today at the Pelican Rapids Public Library.
It’s a startling fact: 4 out of 5 car seats are not installed correctly, posing a significant risk to children’s safety on the road.
To address this issue and ensure the well-being of our youngest passengers, the Communities Coalition of Otter Tail County is hosting a free Car Seat Checkup event on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Pelican Rapids Public Library, located at 25 W Mill, Pelican Rapids, MN 56572.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to take advantage of this valuable opportunity to have their child safety seats inspected by certified child passenger safety technicians.
These experts will ensure that all car seats are installed in accordance with manufacturer specifications, making the ride safer for the little ones.
To secure a spot and schedule a car seat check, please contact Emily Frustol at 218-998-8370 or email efrustol@ottertailcounty.gov.
While appointments are appreciated, walk-ins are also welcome.
Each car seat check typically takes between 20 to 30 minutes, during which technicians will meticulously inspect the installation to guarantee it meets the highest safety standards.
The event organizers encourage attendees to bring all manuals for their vehicles and seats, as having this information readily available can facilitate the inspection process and ensure the utmost accuracy.
Child Passenger Safety Technicians stress the importance of getting your car seat installation checked, even if you believe it is installed correctly.
Shockingly, research has found that nearly half (46%) of parents and caregivers have unknowingly installed their child’s car seat incorrectly.
The Car Seat Checkup event aims to dispel overconfidence and provide a quick, free, and crucial way for parents and caregivers to gain peace of mind regarding their child’s safety.
