Springer Spaniel Field Trials Set to Begin in Battle Lake

Spaniel enthusiasts and dog lovers are gearing up for an exhilarating weekend of competition and canine excellence as the St. Croix Valley Spaniel Club prepares to host the eagerly anticipated AKC Licensed Springer Spaniel Field Trials.

 

Taking place from Friday, October 13, to Sunday, October 15th and beginning at 8am, in Battle Lake, Minnesota, these trials promise to showcase the skill and dedication of these remarkable dogs and their handlers.

Mike McGinty, Chairman for the Fall Trials, and President of the St. Croix Valley Spaniard club shared, ” The dogs will be competing in three different competitions”, ” there will be an open, and amateur stake and a puppy stake, for young dogs,  which will be fun”, “there no charge to attend”, “there are dogs coming from all over”.

 

 

Event Details:

Trial #1 – Friday, October 13, 2023

Event #2023460902 Location: Bob Wasson Property, 20758 368th Avenue Battle Lake, MN (south side of State Hwy 210)

Time: Starts at 8:00 am

Friday, October 13, marks the commencement of this event, offering a challenging competition for professional trainers while warmly welcoming amateurs to participate.

The day will feature a dedicated Puppy Stake and three series judged by two experienced judges.

The action-packed schedule will run from early morning into the late afternoon.

For those seeking a unique spectacle, Friday afternoon will also include a  Water Trial at Lions Park in Battle Lake, MN,  for all attendees.

 

Trial #2 – Saturday & Sunday, October 14 & 15, 2023

Event #2023460903 Location: Bob Wasson Property, Battle Lake, MN (south side of State Hwy 210)

Time: Starts at 8:00 am (both days)

The excitement continues on Saturday, October 14, and Sunday, October 15, with Trial #2, Event #2023460903.

This leg of the competition will encompass the Open, Amateur, and Puppy Stakes, offering an array of challenges for spaniel enthusiasts to enjoy.

Just like the first day, the trials start at 8:00 am and run throughout each day, providing ample opportunities to witness the skill and dedication of these remarkable dogs and their handlers.

 

The grounds are 409 acres of various cover, average knee high.

Pheasants will be used for the All-Age Stake & water test, pigeons for the Puppy.

Address is GPS friendly.

Water test will be at Battle Lake Lions Park, 749 Lake Shore Drive.

Just north of downtown Battle Lake.

Awards will follow the water test at Ashby Brewing Company in Battle Lake.

 

Safety: All participants and spectators are required to wear at least one piece of blaze orange above the waist while in the field, an orange hat is not considered enough per the AKC & parent club.
