(St. Paul, MN)  —  The Minnesota Department of Health is out with updated guidance for activities at assisted living-type facilities in the state.

It allows residents who are fully vaccinated to dine, sit together or play cards closer than six feet while wearing masks.   The move comes following lower numbers of COVID cases in assisted living facilities and higher vaccination rates for residents.

State Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm said more open dining and activities will better meet the needs of residents, families, and providers.   The loosened restrictions do not include skilled nursing facilities or nursing homes that serve higher-risk populations.

Those facilities must follow C-D-C guidance.
