(St. Paul, MN) — Officials have upgraded the security fence around the Minnesota State Capitol building, which has been up since last summer’s riots and will likely remain in place through at least the George Floyd officer trials.
Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington says they want a fence that is structurally better, although it will have the same “footprint.” But Harrington says it will not become permanent.
He called the fence ugly and said “we frankly like the environment of having a non-fenced People’s House.”
He hopes the fence will come once there are no longer any threats against the Capitol.
