The American Legion National Commander, Daniel J. Seehafer, is set to visit Fergus Falls on April 15th 2024 to engage with Minnesota veterans and address critical issues affecting them.
Seehafer, hailing from Wisconsin, will focus on initiatives aimed at saving lives and improving the well-being of veterans, particularly through the “Be the One” campaign, which aims to prevent veteran suicides.
At the heart of Seehafer’s message is the imperative for collective action in supporting veterans.
“Preventing veteran suicide is more than a goal for The American Legion.
It is a mission,” Seehafer stated. “We should all be the one to ask veterans how they are doing and to care about their well-being.”
The event will take place at Fergus Falls Post 30 located at 2010 Pebble Lake Road, commencing with lunch and a presentation at 11:45 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Community leaders, local residents, and veterans are encouraged to attend and engage in discussions with Seehafer.
Aside from suicide prevention, The American Legion is actively involved in various other advocacy efforts.
These include combating veteran claim sharks, ensuring the smooth implementation of the PACT Act, advocating for parity in the federal definition of a veteran, and improving the quality of life for servicemembers.
Established in 1919, The American Legion stands on the Four Pillars of veterans’ rehabilitation, national defense, Americanism, and youth development. Legionnaires continue to serve their communities, states, and the nation, embodying the spirit of service and camaraderie.
