The Splash Pad in downtown Fergus Falls near the Otter Tail River is opening Spring 2024.

The splash pad project began construction in Fall of 2023 as part of the City’s ongoing plan to revitalize the downtown riverfront area.

The splash pad will be a free, outdoor park with jets, spray features, wading pools, fountains, and public art.

A pergola with ample seating will protect visitors from the sun and allow them to take in the sights.

Two sculptures will provide whimsical and engaging art at the splash pad.

Jean Bowman, the Communications Manager for the City, says, “The Wind Sculpture by Carl Zachmann rotates on a spindle and mesmerizes visitors with six giant butterflies fluttering around its axis. The second sculpture is a creation of Jeffrey Zachmann (Carl’s dad) and features three bison rocking up and down on a pedestal as though roaming the prairies of west central Minnesota. The wind-powered sculpture will draw visitors into the splash pad, providing an engaging and delightful visitor experience.”

Free parking is provided and a sidewalk from the splash pad to downtown businesses will keep access safe and convenient for park users.

There will also be a restroom/changing structure for park visitors to utilize.

While the official grand opening has not been announced yet, the City is still anticipating the park to open in May.
