The Minnesota State High School League wants students to be able to play outdoor sports without wearing masks.
The board of directors sent a recommendation statement to the Minnesota Department of Health for review. It calls for students to wear masks at all times except when they are actually competing.
That includes masking up in the dugout for softball and baseball or at the conclusion of a track meet or race.
M-S-H-S-L executive director Erich Martens said they hope to work collaboratively with the state Health Department to modify their guidance on the wearing of masks in outdoor competitions.
