(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minneapolis City Council is on record opposing the use of tear gas and munitions against protesters.

The resolution passed Friday on an 11-1 vote. Police didn’t order the crowd outside the Brooklyn Center Police Department to disperse Thursday night. But officers with Operation Safety Net did use flash bangs to disperse crowds Friday night and made 100 arrests.

Tear gas and less-than-lethal munitions were used in response to protests on four previous nights.

The Minnesota National Guard has been on standby during the Chauvin trial and soldiers were also deployed in response to the unrest in Brooklyn Center.
