Fergus Falls Police Warning Public of Phone Scam

By Derek Sidian May 29, 2024 | 11:07 AM

Fergus Falls, MN – The Fergus Falls Police Department has received multiple reports of individuals receiving phone calls from “Officer Tyler Young” trying to elicit money for bonds over the phone, saying that the caller has federal warrants out for their arrest.

The FFPD says that these calls are a scam, and that the department would never request money over the phone.

These scams have been “spoofing” the department’s number, making it appear that it is an official phone call from police.

If you receive a call claiming to be from a law enforcement official, the FFPD recommends hanging up and calling the non-emergency line for the department at 218-998-8555.
