The Riverfront Splash Pad (City of Fergus Falls)
Fergus Falls, MN – The Riverfront Splash Pad in downtown Fergus Falls is holding its grand opening tomorrow afternoon (June 4th) from 4-6, regardless of weather conditions.
Jean Bowman, the City’s Communications Manager, says, “We can’t predict the weather, but we CAN predict that kids want to start using the Riverfront Splash Pad.”
The ribbon cutting will be held in the City Council Chambers at 4:30, with the cast of Frozen Jr. performing in the Chambers directly after, otherwise staff and events will be onsite and ready for kids right at 4.
If there is lightning, the Splash Pad will shut itself off for safety purposes.
Not only will there be the normal ceremonial ribbon cutting and thanking of donors, the City of Fergus Falls has also lined up music, food trucks, and activities for kids provided by Otter Cove and the Fergus Falls Public Library.
The first 200 kids to join in on the celebration will receive a free beach towel.
The Splash Pad is a free, outdoor park with jets, spray features, wading pools, fountains, and public art.
A pergola with ample seating will protect visitors from the sun and allow them to take in the sights.
The Splash Pad project began construction in Fall of 2023 as part of the City’s ongoing plan to revitalize the downtown riverfront area.
Free parking is provided and a sidewalk from the Splash Pad to downtown businesses will keep access safe and convenient for park users.
There will also be a restroom/changing structure for park visitors to utilize.
