Fergus Falls, MN – Tuesday afternoon (June 4th) was an exciting time for Fergus Falls residents, as the Riverfront Splash Pad officially opened to the public.

Hundreds of residents, young and old alike, showed up in the rainy weather to enjoy the new park.

Multiple food trucks were stationed in the parking lot for attendees to access various foods and snacks during the event.

By the time of the ribbon-cutting in the City Council Chambers, the entire room was filled with parents, grandparents, kids, and other residents invested in the new park.

A handful of people even had to stand in the hallway outside as the presentation began.

Mayor Ben Schierer spent a large part of the afternoon thanking all of the people that made the park possible.

He joked about how being the Mayor of Fergus Falls has some challenges, but that, “It’s days like today that make it all worth it. I’ve never been so proud to be Mayor of Fergus Falls than today.”

There were 4 other speakers, who each played an important role in the project: Sally Godfrey with Veden Trust, Zach Stach of Noon Rotary, Co-Chair of the Fundraising Committee Tasha Rohlf, and Ben Underwood.

The full ceremony can be seen in the video above.

Following the ribbon cutting, the cast of Frozen Jr. performed a couple of songs for the audience.

The energy and excitement from the children gathered at the park was palpable and spread throughout everyone at the park.

With that, the Riverfront Splash Pad is now open for the season.

The water will be running daily from 9 in the morning until 8 at night.
