Becker County Residents Warned of Impersonation Scam

The Becker County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents to a phone scam involving a caller falsely claiming to be a sergeant with the department.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the scammer has been contacting individuals, claiming to be “Sergeant Ralph” from the Becker County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities confirmed that there is no Sergeant Ralph employed with the department.

When the provided phone number was called back, it went to a voicemail that was reportedly muffled and unclear, making the scam even more suspicious.

The Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that they do not make phone calls regarding court schedules, warrants, or requests for payment.

Such matters are only addressed in person at the Sheriff’s Office, Jail, or Court Administration.

Residents are urged not to return the call or provide any personal information or money.

This is a scam, and any interaction with the caller could result in financial loss or identity theft.

For those concerned about active warrants, the Becker County Sheriff’s Office updates its warrant list daily on their website.

Residents can also verify if they have a warrant by contacting the Sheriff’s Office at 218-847-2661 or the Becker County Court Administrator’s Office
