A severe collision involving a semi-truck and a motorcycle left one driver with life-threatening injuries earlier this week in Grant County.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported the incident occurred on August 12th on Highway 59 in Elbow Lake.

According to authorities, Caleb Hokanson, 40, from Ashby, was driving a Peterbilt semi northbound when it struck a Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling southbound, operated by 64-year-old Jeffrey Manthei, also from Elbow Lake.

The two vehicles collided at the intersection of Highway 59 and 1st Street.

Manthei sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Lake Region Healthcare Elbow Lake Medical Center.

Despite the severity of the crash, Hokanson was unharmed and no charges are expected.

Initial reports suggest that alcohol was not a factor, and road conditions were reported to be dry at the time.

The Minnesota State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
