The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the Saturday drowning of a 59-year-old man in Lake Ida.
The victim has been identified as Danny Jay Haak of Alexandria.
Officials say they received a report of a frantic woman ringing the doorbell on a home near the lake shortly before 5 Saturday evening.
A person in the home called to report what he called suspicious behavior. Shortly after that, the woman called 9-1-1 to report she had found her husband in the lake and he was unresponsive.
A retired Minnesota state trooper pulled the man to shore and administered C-P-R while emergency crews were responding.
All efforts were unsuccessful and the victim died before he could be taken to a hospital.
