Pelican Rapids, MN – Starting Tuesday, September 3rd, Highway 108 east in Pelican Rapids will close east of the roundabout on Highway 59 up to Fourth Street for work to begin on Stage 4A of the two-year road construction project.

Thru-traffic and truck detour routes remain in place out of town, and the in-town detour will follow Second Avenue Southeast and Fourth Street Southeast.

The work on Highway 108 east was originally planned to start in 2025, but the contractor proposed a change to the staging to help them maintain consistent progress on more than 20 blocks of city utility replacements and to have better stopping points if winter arrives early.

In addition to the work starting on Highway 108 east, crews continue progress on Stages 1C and 2A on Highway 59, from Highway 108 east up to Fifth Avenue Northeast.

The goal is to have the current stages on Highway 59 and Highway 108 east paved and reopened by winter.

Then, in 2025, work will resume on the remaining stages of the project.

Pelican Rapids businesses are open during construction.

Residents and patrons should follow the signed detours for navigation in-town, both for motorists and pedestrians.

To access businesses on the northeast side of town, please use Fifth Avenue Northeast.
