Fergus Falls, MN – The City of Fergus Falls is no longer asking residents to limit their water usage.
On Monday, a brief severe storm unloaded much rainfall onto the streets of Fergus Falls, causing the sanitary sewer system to “max out.” According to Public Works Director Len Taylor, the system was able to catch up during the overnight hours, in no small part due to people limiting their water usage. Taylor says, “We’re out of a critical state at the sewer plant. Thanks to the residents that headed our request to conserve water and limit their use last night.”
He adds, “We’re back to business as usual with the exception of clean up and potentially some demo and wall material removal in the bathrooms at Magnusson Park.”
In regards to the storm clean up, Taylor says there are some areas that still need to be worked on, particularly Dr. Allen Magnusson Park, “The work that raised the playground area had performed well up until this storm. The storms that we’ve had, it’s filled up the lower part of the park, and the playground area has remained untouched until this storm.”
Taylor also says that an investigation is underway on the south side of town to find where, “such a great amount of water was getting into the sewer system. Hopefully we’ll find a smoking gun and be able to stop some of that water that gets in.”
