Ottertail, MN – A man involved in the burglary of multiple businesses has plead guilty in exchange for minimal prison time, but owes the businesses over $5,000.

According to court documents, 22-year-old Alexander James Goeller of Blaine and three juveniles were involved in a string of break-ins that occurred on June 7th, 2023 in the City of Ottertail and Wadena. They had forced entry into the buildings and stole items worth multiple thousands of dollars, including a Ram Van. The following day, Goeller and his fellow suspects were part of a high speed chase in Mahnomen County, and were eventually detained, where they confessed to having broke into the four businesses.

Goeller plead guilty to one count of Third Degree Burglary back in June of this year as part of a plea agreement. On Friday (August 30th), he was sentenced with 2 additional days in Otter Tail County Jail and 18 months at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud, which has been stayed for 5 years. While his jail time is light, he was also ordered to pay restitution to the four victim businesses, owing them a total of $5,359.
