Battle Lake, MN – At around 9:25 Monday night (September 16th), the Battle Lake Fire Department responded to a report of smoke coming out of the roof at Stub’s Dining and Gunpowder Bar.

Within minutes, the Battle Lake Fire and Police Departments were on the scene. The BLFD sent out a request for mutual aide and seven fire agencies responded, bringing 2 ladder trucks and multiple tankers and pumper trucks. According to Battle Lake Fire Chief Tom Minten, the fire was under control around midnight, though responders didn’t clear the scene until 3:30 Tuesday morning.

Chief Minten says the building is a total loss, with major interior damage and the front half of the roof is collapsed, “There was multiple layers of ceilings and they just kind of collapsed on each other. Some is to the ground, some is partially down.”

The fire occurred after the restaurant had closed down for the evening and there were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and the State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating.

The Battle Lake Fire and Police Departments was assisted by the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, Fergus Falls Fire, Perham Fire, Ottertail Fire, Underwood Fire, Vining Fire, Dalton Fire, and Ashby Fire Departments.
