Moorhead, MN – An 18-year-old driver in Moorhead is safe after his runaway car, reaching up to 113 mph, was stopped by a Minnesota State Patrol trooper.

Despite attempts to shut off the engine, put the car in neutral, and use the emergency brake, the car wouldn’t quit.

Trooper Zach Gruver said that’s when he and a Clay County deputy decided to let the teen run into the back of his squad car.

Gruver says his training kicked in and his car just happened to be faster, getting in front of the runaway car and slowing down.
