Fergus Falls, MN – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for multiple counties in west central Minnesota.
The warning will be in effect from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. today (October 16th) for the counties of Cass, Richland, Ransom, Sargent in North Dakota and for Clay, Wilkin, Grant and western part of Otter Tail county in Minnesota.
Highs in the low to mid 60’s with southerly winds of 20-25 mph gusting near 30 mph will combine to produce very high fire danger in SE North Dakota and west central Minnesota this afternoon. This will result in fires that start potentially spreading rapidly.
Residents are asked to avoid outside burning, avoid parking cars on grass, check trailers for dragging chains, and to be careful with equipment that may spark.
