Pelican Rapids, MN – Highway 59 in the city of Pelican Rapids has been reopened to all traffic, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Motorists should be alert for workers who are still finishing up final touches along Highway 59 downtown between the two roundabouts up to Fifth Avenue Northeast.

Highway 108 east remains closed between Highway 59 and 2 1/2 Street Southeast. Local traffic should continue to follow the in-town detour route on Second Avenue Southeast and Fourth Street Southeast. Work is expected to wrap up on Highway 108 east in the upcoming weeks, and the roadway will reopen for the winter. Work will resume in spring 2025 on the remaining stages of the two-year reconstruction project when weather allows.

In addition to the road work, crews have also started constructing the trail along Highway 108 west. Traffic impacts are minimal, but motorists should watch for shoulder closures in the areas crews are working. Progress will continue on the trail into the winter months as weather allows.
