Fergus Falls, MN – The Otter Tail County Court has issued an arrest warrant for 22-year-old Gage William Davis after he failed to appear at his first criminal court hearing for Check Forgery.
According to court documents, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department responded to a complaint of theft on January 24, 2024 at a residence in Erhard. One of the victims said that Davis had been living with him for a few months, and that he had noticed some cash go missing from his wallet, but never confronted Davis about it.
The second victim had spent the night at the residence on January 14th, and a couple days later, she received notice of a fraudulent charge of $120 on her debit card that were determined to be attempted money transfers. She looked in her wallet and saw that her card was there, but not in the normal spot she leaves it. She also noticed she was missing three checks.
On January 19th, the second victim received notice that one of the checks that was missing had been cashed at a bank in Fergus Falls for $600 and was endorsed by Davis, with the bank teller document his driver’s license and phone numbers on the check. Security footage from the bank also confirmed Davis as the suspect.
When the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Agent working the case made phone contact with Davis, the agent told Davis why he was calling and Davis hung up the phone and would not answer subsequent calls.
Davis was sent a summons to attend his first court hearing via Zoom earlier this morning (October 29th), but he failed to appear. A warrant has now been issued for his arrest and he is charged with two counts of felony Check Forgery.
