Fergus Falls, MN – The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department is warning residents of a new scam call going around the area.
The scam caller appears to be a male with a southern accent claiming to be Preston Berg from the Otter Tail County Detention Center or other Sheriff’s Office personnel. The caller states they missed jury duty and threatens they need to pay a $6,000 contempt of court fee or turn themself into jail.
If you get this phone call do not give out money or any personal information. This is a scam. If you are unable to decipher if the call is a scam or not, call the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number at 218-998-8555.
