Fargo, ND – Fargo Police officer Andrew Dotas is returning to the force today (February 10th) more than a year-and-a-half after being shot in the line of duty.
Dotas and two other officers were ambushed by a gunman in July 2023. Officer Jake Wallin from St. Michael, Minnesota was killed in the incident.
Officer Tyler Hawes and bystander Karlee Koswick were also wounded. Hawes returned to the force last week.
Dotas credits firefighters, who he says stayed even though they were not wearing bullet proof vests, with saving his life. He says he stays in contact with Wallin’s family and has a great relationship with them.
