Wahpeton, ND – Half a dozen cars are damaged after a load of metal pipes came off a semi-trailer northwest of Wahpeton Monday night (February 17th).

Upon arrival just before 11:45 p.m., Richland County Deputies found that 6 vehicles were involved in an accident and sustained damage from metal pipes that came off a semi-trailer.

The semi driver told law enforcement that he was heading south on I-29 near mile marker 28 when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer that was crossing the roadway. He says that he lost control and crossed the median, causing the pipes that were being hauled to come off of the trailer. The pipes blocked both northbound lanes of travel before coming to a rest in the east ditch.

Deputies say that there were no injuries reported from the incident. The crash is under investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by North Dakota Highway Patrol and North Dakota Department of Transportation.
