Dent, MN – A man from Erhard has been charged for threatening to shoot customers at a bar on Star Lake late last Thursday (February 13th).

According to court documents, at around 11:43 Thursday night, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department received a call from Bell’s Resort Bar and Grill saying that a man was causing a disturbance and that he may have a pistol and was threatening to shoot other patrons. While enroute, deputies were told that the man had left the building and had broken the front door, but bar staff had secured the door with an electrical cord.

Upon arrival, deputies found the suspect, 66-year-old Scott Leabo, in his car. Deputies instructed Leabo to leave the vehicle and placed him under arrest.

Deputies spoke with bar staff and customers who witnessed the events. One customer told officials that they had been playing pool with Leabo and had been trash talking him, leading Leabo to pushing them and threatening another person with a pool cue.

A member of the staff says after the altercation with the customer, Leabo threw multiple chairs and left. He returned aggressively a few minutes later and was escorted out of the bar and locked out. Leabo broke the lock on the front door and returned inside, threatening that he’d bring his pistol in and shoot patrons and staff, at which point he was escorted out again.

When speaking with deputies, Leabo said he did not actually have a pistol. During his interactions with officers, Leabo showed multiple signs of intoxication and blew a preliminary PBT of 0.351 BAC. He was taken to Lake Region Healthcare for medical clearance before being transferred to the Otter Tail County Detention Facility.

Leabo made his first court appearance on Tuesday, February 18th and has been charged with Threats of Violence, two counts of 3rd Degree DWI, 5th Degree Assault, 4th Degree Damage to Property, and Disorderly Conduct.
