Alexandria, MN – Authorities in west central Minnesota are warning of deteriorating conditions after a vehicle crashed through the ice on Lake Victoria near Alexandria.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says a towing company was already at the scene Sunday morning when deputies arrived. They say 45-year-old Mark Herrboldt of Rice drove about 20 feet onto the ice before the front end of his truck broke through.
No one was injured, and the vehicle was safely removed. The ice ranged from a few feet thick to only 3.5 inches where the ice broke.
