Otter Tail County, MN – The Otter Tail County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office is preparing for upcoming online auctions of tax-forfeited properties, which will allow individuals and businesses to purchase land within the county.
Tax-forfeited properties default to the State of Minnesota ownership after three years of unpaid taxes. Otter Tail County will periodically hold public auction sales, with properties awarded to the highest bidder. Any properties not sold during the auction may be available for purchase directly from the County Auditor’s Office.
“The sale of tax-forfeited properties allows these parcels to return to private ownership and productive use,” said Lynn Larson, Otter Tail County Recorder. “We encourage those interested to review the available properties and participate in the online auction.”
The upcoming tax-forfeited property sale will be conducted as an online public auction through Public Surplus, with the first sale date to begin March 17th and run 45 days. The auction is open to the highest bidder, allowing individuals and businesses to purchase available properties.
Any unsold properties following the auction may be available for direct purchase through the Otter Tail County Auditor’s Office. Additional details, including a list of available properties and bidding procedures, will be posted on the Otter Tail County website and will be updated as new sale dates approach.
Former owners and lienholders of tax-forfeited property may be eligible to collect money from a class action settlement. To learn more or make a claim, visit MNTaxForfeitureSettlement.com or call 1-833-709-0093.
