Elbow Lake, MN – The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is warning students participating in “Senior Assassin” games to be safe and considerate of the public.
“Senior Assassin” games are a competition where high school seniors aim to shoot each other with water guns in order to be the “last senior standing.” Grant County Sheriff Jon Combs says the students will do their best to be stealthy as they stalk their opponents in order to get them out first.
Sheriff Combs says law enforcement is reminding the public of these games, as they will see reports of suspicious activity that turn out to be students playing the game. He says that students and parents can help prevent these reports by following these recommendations:
- Do not trespass on other people’s property, especially at night. If you are asked to leave, do so.
- Use brightly colored water guns that seem readily apparent that they are toys.
- Do not hide in a dark place while carrying anything that can be mistaken for a firearm, and don’t wear masks, camouflage, etcetera.
- If you see law enforcement coming, do NOT run or hide. Show your hands, drop whatever you’re holding in your hands, and explain what you’re doing to the officers.
Sheriff Combs says the Sheriff’s Office is not endorsing the game; they just want to keep the public informed. He says if you see someone or something suspicious, call 911 and do not confront anyone; the Sheriff’s Office will check it out for you.
