Otter Tail County, MN – The Otter Tail County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office is preparing for the second round of online auctions of tax-forfeited properties, allowing individuals and businesses to purchase land within the county.

Tax-forfeited properties default to the State of Minnesota’s ownership after three years of unpaid taxes. Otter Tail County will periodically hold public sales, with properties awarded to the highest bidder.

“These auctions are an opportunity for individuals, developers, and local businesses to invest in Otter Tail County,” said Lynn Larson, Otter Tail County Recorder. “Bringing these properties back into use supports our communities and the local tax base.”

The upcoming tax-forfeited property sale will be conducted as an online public auction through Public Surplus (publicsurplus.com). The sale will begin June 2 and run until July 2, 2025. The auction is open to the highest bidder, allowing individuals and businesses to purchase available properties.

Additional details, including a list of available properties and bidding procedures, are posted on the Otter Tail County website at ottertailcounty.gov/tax-forfeited-lands/.
